You can lose weight just by walking plus it will firm up those muscles in your butt and legs making you look better. We all want to look great and being overweight can put us at a lot of health risks. There are just a lot of reasons we want to lose weight. However, dieting is difficult for many people. Whether it’s their lifestyle, their desire for good food or just an issue with will power, dieting is not as easy as one thinks. Walking, however, is easy for everyone and is also a great way to lose weight.
Walking instead of Dieting?
We’ve always been told all our lives that if we want to lose weight, we have to watch what we eat and/or eat less of it. Not a lot of fun, right?
When it comes to your weight, remember this: 1 pound = 3500 calories. For every pound you lose, you must burn 3500 calories worth of energy. The only way to lose it after you eat the calories is with exercise and walking is the easiest way to exercise.
Walking is one of the best forms of exercise. It uses up oxygen, causing your body to burn stored fat. The normal average is just under 3 miles, through the course of a day. If you add a morning walk, or a brisk evening walk you could easily make that 4 miles a day.
If you walk 4 miles 4 times a week, you would burn 1600 calories! That’s half a pound of fat gone. Add more steps during your day while making sure not to eat more calories than you normally do, and your body can’t help but trim down.Walking also strengthens muscles, which tones and shapes your body. The increased muscle boosts your metabolism. That means you burn calories long after you stop moving. And you don’t have to do all of your walking at once. If you don’t have time for long walks, find pockets of time throughout your day for short walks.(Check more health and fitness tips on MFCC 4 Heatlh)
A study at the American College of Sports Medicine of a group of middle-aged women that used pedometers and averaged more than 10,000 steps a day had only 26% body fat. The ones that averaged fewer than 6,000 steps a day had 44% body fat. This study gives you an idea of how much you need to walk to get rid of the fat.

How Can I Lose Weight Without Dieting?
When you’re walking and pacing yourself correctly (starting slow and working yourself up), you’re sending messages to your muscles what you need them to do with any excess fat or sugars you have in your body. They’re to temporarily leave the sugars alone (you need some of them for energy) and start burning that excess fat you’re carrying around. The more you walk the more fat and calories you burn. You will burn calories when you’re walking and burning calories is how you lose weight, especially when you’re burning more calories than you’re consuming.
You’re probably wondering how you can lose weight if you’re still consuming a lot of calories. The answer is simple: walk more. Once your body is warmed, walk at a good brisk pace so you’ll allow your body to burn those calories away. Work yourself up to at least 30 minutes per day of good walking and you’ll soon see a great improvement in your muscle tone and weight. You’ll be amazed at how great you feel and how much energy you now have as well!
The bottom line is that you will do better if you watch what you eat along with a good walking exercise program. You won’t have to walk as much to lose the weight. If you need a little help I have put some links you can check out, but it’s really up to you how you go about losing weight.
